For 2010, we are going to welcome selected expert bloggers who will contribute to the quality of our Top Blog rankings. We started this new feature
on our European websites last year and realized just how valuable the expertise of such bloggers is to maintaining and improving our rankings.
The Wikio Expert helps us with a given Top Blog ranking, primarily with the sourcing and moderation. He/she helps us identify new blogs that should be in the rankings and perhaps some that are
in there that shouldn't be. The expert also looks after the monthly sneak peek of the rankings that are released a couple of days before we update them on our site.
So, for the very first time in the US, we are proud to welcome a Wikio Expert: Greg Laden, webmaster at Greg Laden's Blog, who will be our Science blogging expert. Greg Laden is an independent scholar, writer and blogger living in the Twin Cities. He writes
about science (especially evolution, human evolution, and general biology), the evolution-creationism “debate”, and politics (especially the politics of religion and atheism). You can find his
description in full on the right-hand sidebar of the Top Science Blogs page on wikio.com and get to know him better by reading his blog.
Thanks a lot for joining, Greg!

We are delighted to announce the completion of
Wikio Labs for the US!
Wikio Labs is our research platform and it provides you with an exclusive look at the latest tools and developments being worked on at Wikio. It currently offers a number of excellent tools
providing graphical representations of the words, people and products buzzing around in the blogosphere, as well as a wealth of info on your blog and all the others that we index.
There is the
Backlink Factory, which let's you see all the ingoing and outgoing links for yours or any other blog that we have
indexed. It gives you an overview as well as all the details on each backlink.
With
Wikio Trends you can see graphs detailing the number of articles published on a given news topic or person (for a total volume
of about 10,000 articles per day). You can select any news category or topic that exists on Wikio and compare it with any other. We have stuck a few on there to give you a idea such as this Obama
v Palin v Coakley v Brown graphic.
Our
Buzz Clouds show you who is in the news today - displaying in, in real time, the people making the headlines in a number of
different domains. To keep it right up to date the Buzz Clouds are automatically updated each hour.
And last but certainly not least is our top service -
Wikio Sources.
It allows you to bring up all the info you've ever wanted about a blog, such as its ranking positions over time, publication volume, latest articles, all incoming and outgoing links, to whom it
links and who links to it, and much more.
Wikio Labs Tools are often born as a result of a blogger's suggestion, so please do keep your ideas coming in by emailing
labs@wikio.com. Wikio Labs is ready and waiting to help kit out the blogosphere with new tools!
And you can check the service out at http://labs.wikio.net/us!!

Just a quick note from us to wish you all a very Happy New Year!
2009 was a big year for Wikio as we reached over one million web sites
indexed across our six sites, saw our Top Blog rankings grow with new categories, Wikio Experts and further improvements to our algorithm; we also introduced many new tools including our Universal Buttons, opened Wikio Labs in France and several
Wikiopoles, saw our monthly unique visitors climb to 20 million and in addition the year ended with our fusion with ebuzzing.
We'll have even more new projects for bloggers in 2010 and Wikio Labs will be opening up on our other sites. There will also be new categories for our Top Blog rankings and much, much more.
We'd like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported Wikio last year by publishing a post, adding a button or banner, signaling a bug or getting in touch with us
to help improve the rankings, and we'd also like to wish you all a happy and successful 2010!

You may be familiar with Twitter's "Lists" function, which allows users to create their own lists of tweeters.
Well our team has put together Wikio US lists made up from our Top
Blogs. There are lists for several of our categories, such as Technology, Sports, Film and many more, containing tweets from
the bloggers that appear in the corresponding Top Blog ranking.
It's a great way to discover some of the World's best blogs, follow their tweets and tweet along with them. You can check them all out here. Any bloggers who wish to be added to these lists, just send us a Direct Message and we'll take care of it.
