Another year older, another year wiser.
Today is wikio.com's fourth birthday. It all started 4 years ago, the 11th December 2006, and since then wikio.com has grown enormously to offer a huge range of
services.
Wikio has an international presence in the U.S, England, France, Germany, Spain and Italy and is currently the number one participative news portal in Europe and is looking to expand its presence
even more in the U.S. Originally offering a small number of services (Shopping, Rankings, Labs...) Wikio has undergone a growth spurt in the last year to grow into the Wikio Group which merges
Ebuzzing, PromoDigital, Neotia, Overblog and Nomao into the original platform.
This latest fusion has enabled the Wikio Group to consolidate its position as the European leader and grow in influence in the key European countries. It has also grown with the creation of two
new exciting platforms: Eblogs and Wikio Experts.
So Happy Birthday Wikio.com and we look forward to a future of further development in the U.S. Thankyou to all our users and we hope to provide a platform
which becomes even more relevant and useful for you in the coming years.

So here they are; the last Wikio top blog rankings for 2010.
As you can see, there is some movement as our rankings algorithm has now been updated to be able to include backtweets, so get people sharing your articles.
We have also added even more categories to the rankings, we now have 43, and this month we are happy to welcome Biking, Cars, Cocktails and Spirits, Home Design and TV. So congratulations to all

A new day has just started. I get up, and have a shower for a good 15 minutes. I go to the kitchen and I make myself a big mug of coffee to get the day really going. I work diligently all morning
and then I begin to make lunch. Today it’s soup and some pasta.
This day has only just begun, however a simple calculation reveals the true extent of my water use.
45 + 10 + 2 = 57
That’s already 57 litres of water used just in the morning by only one person.
Unsafe water and poor sanitation kills more people each year than any form of violence, even wars. Everyday 42,000 people die from a lack of water, that’s more that 2 million each year!
We are so lucky to have such easy access to this resource, which for millions is so precious and so scarce. So, please, let’s all unite here in
order to increase awareness of this huge problem and spark a global discussion on water.
Water is a global issue, and it affects all of us. In order to show your involvement and to encourage your readers to be more careful, you could write a post on your blog and hopefully spend less
time in the shower! For our part, Wikio has created a thematic tab showing our support for this global
issue, and allowing you to easily find all the information on this ‘blog action day'

Two weeks ago, the Wikio group and the blogging platform Overblog merged confirming their position as the leading social media group in Europe. Today, Nomao
has just added its skills to this group, by merging with Wikio.
Nomao is a local search engine created in 2007 by Serge Alleyne (Ex founder of Multivea mobile) and the founders of OverBlog. It allows its users to localise searches around their personal
tastes. Nomao classes information by basing searches on popularity according to internet users, and the tastes of the user. The latter can create lists of their personal tastes on the site
and benefit from recommendations from their social networks which will influence the results of their searches. At present, the site has found great success with 2million visitors per month. An
iphone application for Nomao has also been created, which has already been downloaded 350,000 times.
With this merger, the Wikio group is acquiring a local dimension which it was lacking before. The services offered by Nomao will enable the Wikio Buzz e-reputation tools to be refined on a local
level. Businesses residing in a particular region (Bank networks, retail, apparel, restaurants, etc) can find an ideal and novel solution to manage the image of their particular brand.
In comparison, Nomao will benefit from the international presence of Wikio to further develop it’s influence.
