Finally things happen. For example, the month of August is finally here! And I do hope that most of you numerous (or so) readers are on holidays. I also hope that you will read this article despite these vacations. With August comes the update of Wikio’s rankings which are finally here bringing their pack of changes.

One of the most surprising turn of events concerns the Beer category! Finally the top blogs there are changing. So long Brookston Beer Bulletin and Beervana, The New School and Brewpublic fight back and take the two spots on the top. Which is kind of disturbing since now Jay Brooks from Brookston Beer Bulletin takes a seat that has been empty for some time: he is our new consultant for the Beer category! This means that as always he will continue to publish the ranking preview but will also check new entries in this category and give us feedback about the rankings.

Yet this month I did not want that much talk about the changes but instead to shed some light on those who do not move that much. For example the Comics and manga top is stable. Topless Robot succeeds in staying on the top spot for quite some time and truly I think that they deserve this spot!

The SEO category is also one where the top spots do not change that much. Since the rankings are based on backlinks and these are a big part of SEO work, it is not surprising that Search Engine Land is maintaining itself on top, so if you want to optimize your visibility, do not forget to check them out.

And another category that has a really mighty leader is Technology. In fact, Techcrunch is a really well-known blog and they seem to be installed for a long time on the top, overpowering The Next web and even the Official Google Blog.

Next month we will go back to talking about the changes in the rankings, but I wanted to outline the fact that some things do not change due to very powerful leaders.
