We've been receiving floods of suggestions for sources ever since the site opened, and we thank you for them!
Here are a few rules to make the submission of feeds simpler and to achieve high quality referencing as quickly as possible.
1. Make sure your site includes an RSS feed, and give us its direct address (or addresses, if there are several).
2. Before suggesting a site, don’t hesitate to do a search to see whether Wikio already offers content or even a category that corresponds to your blog. We’re not experts in all categories and it can be useful to tell us exactly where you'd like to see your site appear. Of course, if there’s any disagreement then we’ll have the last word…but that won’t happen very often! Each category has a “Suggest a source” link located at the bottom of the page. By clicking on this link, you’re suggesting that this source should be referenced in this category.
A little tip: if you find it hard to categorize a very general feed, we’re likely to have the same problem too. The more delimited the subject of your feed, the more effectively it will be referenced and the bigger its audience will be! So think about providing us with feeds by category, especially for generalist blogs…
3. Our editorial policy: Wikio is concerned with news, public debate and expertise. We accept any content, as long as it’s original and doesn’t break the law. We refuse poor quality content (with poor spelling or few posts), as well as blogs which are too personal and therefore likely to generate noise due to the fuzziness of the themes covered in each post.
Care! Source names are not indexed in Wikio’s database. This means that a search on the newspaper “The Washington Post”, for example, will not give you articles from this newspaper, but articles about this newspaper. The same goes for blogs. A search on the name of your source will not give any result, even if the source has been indexed. To check whether your source is present in Wikio, it's best to do a search using, for example, the title of one of the articles. This is also a good way of checking whether we’ve indexed a source that you consider to be essential.
